I've been watching the Imus thing with a little interest and through it all I've asked, "So...ok... um.... why is it so bad for him to say what an entire subculture says on a daily basis?"

Seriously......if its not acceptable for one person or group of people to say something or use a term then its really hypocritical for others to do it.

And now....the Press is picking up on that......

Huh.....who would have thought.

Maybe it was the crucifixion of one of their own that got them to sit up and take notice.

Maybe...just maybe....something good will come of it.

Long odds on that but hey....I can dream

Isn't it ridiculous? I mean, I don't like Imus... but lets be real. Music, other radio shows, you name it... i've heard worse. Why crucify him?

Then again its stuff like this that made Stern go satellite. Maybe Imus will do the same. But before long, the media and such are going to have to practice what they preach.

I'm not an Imus fan either. Actually, quite the opposite is true but I think he got a bum rap here.

The idea that " its ok since its an artistic expression " thing is pure USDA 100% bullshit.

Standards need to apply uniformly to EVERYONE or its just another form a prejudical treatment.

I don't give a rat's ass if you are white, black, yellow, brown, pink, green, purple or plaid...if you suck....you suck and I'll be happy to tell you that in whatever manner I think will get it across. This crap where people are getting a Buy on being assholes because of something that happened before they were born is .... I can't even come up with a word to cover my disdain.

Treat people as you would like to be treated. Simple...easy...and if you want to be treated like shit, I can give you the name of some good therapists.

Ok....continuation of previous rant complete.

Sadly, I think the only thing that will come from this is a new definition of "decency" on the airwaves, further restricting what you can and cannot say on radio. America is going to be "spoonfed" what ever the FCC feels that is ok for them to digest.

i.e. Whatever certain "special interest groups" don't complain about.
