I was in Ithaca last night helping a friend celebrate his birthday and a bunch of us went into a little coffee house. The place kinda of reminded me of a place I used to know in Syracuse called Zopies. I used to love that place.

Anyway, one of us orders a black coffee. The young lady (a Cornell College student mind you) behind the counter has a blank look on her face and says;

" a what?"

" A black coffee," is the reply.

Now her reply pretty much took away my faith that humanity is smart enough to survive much more than the next decade or so.

"I .. um....I don't know what that is....I just started here."

How in the Blue Hell does one get to work in a coffee shop if one doesn't know what coffee is?

"Its coffee.....with no cream and no sugar."

"Oh...I thought it was going to be something like coffee with no water."

Yikes.

The ever-increasing stupidity of humanity still never ceases to amaze me.
